Villages in Kenya

There are hundreds of people in villages throughout Kenya. They have very little. Often not enough clothing. No electricity No gas cookers. Often not much food. We try to help these people around the Mombasa Malindi area. We teach them solar cooking, how to purify water by boiling and about sack gardens. We take bags of clothes to villages. Sometimes food. Hellen Wasonga does the work. She talks to the village elders to see what is needed. We are also helping with some education of standard 3 mathematics plus shape recognition plus pictures of African animals and a soccer ball. The children love the clothes. They love football. They want to learn. Showing how to cook a meal using solar energy is good. They learn in short time. Purifying water by boiling using solar energy is very important. People can get serious disease from African water. Boiling the water is easy to do. We also show that filling a PET soft drink bottle with suspect water and leaving in the sun for disease to be killed by the sun's ultra violet rays is good and not complicated.
